Heather's roots run deep in South Hero, Vermont. As a lifelong resident, she has always enjoyed the simple beauty of Lake Champlain, local farmland, and the sense of community the small Island offers. Inspired by the changing of the seasons and the anticipation of what each new month will bring throughout the year, Heather looks forward to finding new ways to learn and grow. Bringing a sense of wonder and curiosity to the little ones in her life ~ helping them to find their wings, brings great joy to her life.
Heather began her career over fifteen years ago, teaching and supporting children of all ages in several capacities. Some of these roles were being a lead toddler teacher, an elementary school Para Educator, a summer school tutor working with children with special needs, a respite care provider for a teenager with Down Syndrome, a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at a private school in Burlington, and as a nanny. Heather has observed and practiced a vast array of philosophies and methods of teaching young children. Elements of the Waldorf and Montessori philosophies inspire her home-based childcare space. Natural materials such as wood and silk are plentiful, which help to inspire creativity and the imagination. Heather is excited to continue working with children in this new capacity, eager to teach, nurture, and grow each day in a holistic and peaceful way, providing a bounty of opportunities for play and learning.
Heather graduated from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. She earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, and a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.
Along with her husband Steve, Heather has two daughters, ages 17 and 6. As a family they enjoy growing and playing on their small hobby farm which includes three Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, seven chickens, and lots of fruit and vegetables.
